Hi-back seats
From the Resto-Mod department
Victoria is offering increased safety to the occupants of the front seats. The original front seats were short sized, stopping somewhere in the middle of the back of the driver, and of course without a headrest, a common thing in the car industry back then.
Just like seat belts, not having a headrest represents a significant danger. In case of a rear-end collision, the head moves violently at angle from the spine and can irreversibly injure the neck in a whiplash. Volvo was first to put front seats head restraints in 1968, made mandatory in the USA from the following year.
Fun fact : believe it or not but headrests are still not mandatory in Europe today !
Hi-back seats with headrest made for old Land Rovers are vastly available. They certainly look out of place, but some must accept compromise in order to survive his passion, in case of an unfortunate event.
